ACommunityofManyVoices
The Meetei diaspora in Delhi is overwhelmingly young — students, early-career professionals, and newcomers building their lives far from home. Our community has put down roots across the city, not by grand design, but by the quiet pull of familiar food, shared language, and neighbors who understand.
South Delhi Hubs
Kishangarh & Safdarjung Enclave (near JNU) — home to authentic restaurants & close-knit networks.
Academic Centers
North Campus DU, Vasant Kunj & Maharani Bagh — vibrant cultural hubs for student organizations.
Rapid Growth
The Northeast Indian migrant population in Delhi has grown approximately fivefold since the 2011 census.
Youth-Led
Around 96% of the diaspora are between the ages of 15 and 30, primarily students and working professionals.

"We do not claim to have all the answers. We simply show up, speak clearly, and follow through."
DMCC was formed in June 2023 in response to the crisis unfolding in Manipur. From our first community gathering at Jantar Mantar in July 2023, we have worked steadily — holding peaceful protests, engaging government ministries, and advocating for the rights of displaced families.
Today, we continue to stand as a unified voice for every Meetei who has made Delhi their home, even temporarily.
Our Team
The people behind DMCC.
How We Work
We show up. We speak clearly. We follow through. These are the four ways DMCC takes action on behalf of the Meetei community in Delhi.
Community Gatherings
Organizing peaceful demonstrations and public assemblies — including community events at Jantar Mantar — to make the community's voice heard.
Government Dialogue
Engaging directly with Union Ministers and participating in Ministry of Home Affairs discussions to present community demands formally and constructively.
Civil Society Coordination
Collaborating with allied organizations — including the 3rd May Committee, COCOMI, and Image Meira — to build a unified civil society response.
IDP Advocacy
Consistently pushing for the permanent rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons — ensuring displaced families are not forgotten in long-term policy conversations.
