Our Story

We did not set out to build an organization. We came together in June 2023 because our community needed us to. What started as a crisis response has grown into a structured civil society voice — grounded in accountability, guided by our constitution, and committed to the long road ahead.

Genesis of DMCC

Evolution

July 28, 2023 — First Community Gathering

Organized the first community demonstration at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, raising demands for removal of buffer zones, IDP rehabilitation, and impartial security operations.

September 2023 — Government Engagement

A DMCC delegation met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, submitting a formal memorandum requesting the withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Meetei-populated areas and demanding accountability for security operations.

October 2024 — Academic Collaboration

Hosted the book release of “Ethnicity and Geopolitics” at Kirori Mal College, bringing academic analysis of the conflict into public discourse and strengthening ties with Delhi's research community.

January 2025 — Meetei Yumpham Resolution

The Meetei Yumpham Trust passed a resolution to establish Delhi's first dedicated sacred cultural hub for the Meetei diaspora — a permanent space for Lai Haraoba rituals, community gatherings, and cultural continuity.

April 2025 — Cultural Protection Filing

Filed a formal complaint with Delhi Police to protect the traditional Thabal Chongba celebrations of Yaoshang festival from external interference, affirming the community's right to its own sacred practices.

January 2026 — MHA Track-Two Dialogue

Participated in Ministry of Home Affairs track-two negotiations, engaging formally in structured dialogue aimed at achieving a lasting, peaceful resolution to the conflict.

May 2026 — Third Anniversary Remembrance

Joined the 3rd May Committee in community gatherings marking three years since the conflict began, reaffirming the call for time-bound justice and permanent, dignified rehabilitation for all displaced persons.
